The third One Day International between England and Australia at Edgbaston in Birmingham was abandoned without a single ball bowled. Heavy showers left the ground with puddles to leave a large crowd disappointed because of the zero cricket action.
About 21,000 tickets were sold for this Third ODI. There was hope that a curtailed match would get underway but the rain returned to have the last laugh at Edgbaston and unfortunately the Umpires had no choice but to call off the day/night ODI at 6:11 PM local.
Following the abandonment, England keep their lead of 2-0, which means that they cannot lose this series from this stage. Australia’s best result in this series will only be a 2-2 draw.
