In a knock reminiscent of one Sachin Tendulkar played for Mumbai two decades back against Australia, Shreyas Iyer put the Aussie to sword, hitting a career-best 202 not out as the three-day warm-up game between India A and Australia ended in a draw on Sunday.

Back in 1997, India went on to win the series after Tendulkar's masterclass in the warm-up match. The hosts will be hoping for an encore as the four-Test series begins in Pune on February 23.

Coming back to the match Iyer, resuming on his overnight score of 85, reached his century 10 minutes into the day. He was especially severe on the two spinners Nathan Lyon and Stephen O'Keefe. Along with Krishnappa Gowtham, Iyer was involved in a 138-run stand for the seventh wicket.

Iyer's effort saw the 22-year-old Mumbai batsman, bringing up his ninth first class hundreds. He hit 27 boundaries during the knock, which included seven sixes. The maximums came off the struggling spinners Lyon and O'Keefe. Iyer batted for a total of 306 minutes.

Gowtham, on the other hand, enjoyed himself, smashing 74 in 68 balls. His knock featured 10 fours and four sixes. India 'A' were all out for 403 in reply to Australia's first-innings total of 469 for seven declared, thus conceding a lead of 66 runs.

The Aussies made 110 for four wickets in their second innings before the game was called off on mutual consent. O'Keefe on 19 and Matthew Wade on 6 were at the crease when the match came to and end.

For the second time in the match, both the openers failed. David Warner, who made 25 and 35 while Matt Renshaw could only register scores of 11 and 10. The spinners too went for plenty -- Lyon finished with 4 for 162 and O'Keefe with 3 for 101.
